To mark this unique anniversary,
TG Today reviews the last 125 years from the foundations laid by the original
William Griffiths in 1874 to it's position today as a diverse group of
companies, operating still very much as a family-run business.

When William Griffiths ventured on his own as a
builder, he could hardly have imagined that the business he was starting up
would be trading at the end of the next century, employing some 200 people and
with an annual turnover of £30 million. Today the Group consists of four
principal trading divisions, Concrete and Aggregates, Builders Merchants, Fuel
and Lubricant Distribution and Waste Services. In addition there are several
other auxiliary trading operations, including farming, caravan sites and
holiday apartments, shotblasting etc.
These businesses are based at 15 different
locations and operate over 100 heavy goods vehicles, delivering goods and
services over a trading area of around 28,000 square miles ranging from London
to Blackpool.
In this dramatically changing world the current
generation are even more conscious of the need to be continually improving and
enhancing the activities of the business, so they will be in a position to
maintain the TUDOR GRIFFITHS GROUP as MARKET LEADERS for the long-term
future. |
