TG Staff celebrated after being named top fund raisers at this year’s Macmillan Cancer World Coracle Championships. Two teams from Tudor Griffiths Group, in Ellesmere, raised just under £2,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support and received The Richard Bayliss Cup from the championship organisers. Managing Director Tudor Griffiths, who led the two intrepid quartets, said: “It was a really fun day, and at the same time, it gave everyone the chance to raise plenty of money for such a deserving cause. To have received the trophy as the top fund raisers was a real honour for all of us here at Tudor Griffiths Group. We entered a team two years ago and the feedback was terrific, so the event is fast becoming a firm favourite with our staff – it’s a good team bonding event and it’s very competitive! We do our best and it’s the taking part that counts, along with having lots of fun and hopefully not getting a soaking! Supporting Macmillan Cancer in Shropshire is a great cause.” Two Shropshire fifth generation family businesses joined together on an extensive restoration scheme, transforming an ancient redundant barn complex at English Frankton near Ellesmere into six outstanding country family homes of character. The Tudor Griffiths Group, which has owned the land for generations, called on Morris Property and its specialist Morris Joinery team to give the disused barns a new lease of life as they were no longer suited to modern farming techniques. Tudor Griffiths supplied all the building materials from its own network of builders’ merchants and concrete plants across Shropshire and specified top of the range kitchens and bathrooms and quality finishes throughout. The six luxury homes are now available to rent with Strutt & Parker in Shrewsbury. Tudor Griffiths, Managing Director, said: “Frankton Barns has been in our family for generations and it’s a proud moment for us to finally have the work completed on the barns. The quality of the workmanship throughout is superb and really adds to the spectacular views of the Shropshire countryside which makes the properties so special. “The Tudor Griffiths Group has been in operation for five generations, as has the Morris family, and having the opportunity to work on such a prestigious project together has been wonderful. The project really has been a joint effort and thanks to the skilled craftsmen from both sides. We have a stunning barn complex which we are immensely proud of.” Staying afloat for fund raising success Shropshire barns restored as luxury country homes Wood Lane, Ellesmere, Shropshire, SY12 0HY Tel: 01691 626262 | www.tggroup.co.uk | Email: enquiries@tggroup.co.uk | Tudor Griffiths, Managing Director Changing roles It’s all change for two managers who have swapped roles after a total of 50 years’ combined service Jon Griffiths has worked for Tudor Griffiths Group for over 30 years managing several branches in the company’s builders’ merchants’ network, and Paul Morris began working for the firm by taking a Saturday job almost 20 years ago. Jon has most recently been the manager at our Oswestry branch and Paul was in charge at Ellesmere. But now Jon has moved to Ellesmere, with Paul moving in the opposite direction to lead the team at Oswestry. TG Builders’ Merchants’ General Manager, Mark Evans, said: “Their experience is absolutely invaluable. It’s a new challenge for Jon, as not only will he be managing Ellesmere, he will also be supporting me with other divisional work, and getting involved in the overall divisional operations.”
